The Kathmandu Valley - a repository of medieval art culture is surrounded by tier upon tier of green mountains walls above, which towers the mighty snowcapped peaks. It consists of tree main cities of great historical and cultural interest Kathmandu. Lalitpur (Patan) and Bhaktapur. The major places of tourist attraction in Kathmandu valley are; Machhendra Nath temple, Akash Bhairav temple. Hanumandhoka (Durbar Square) , Temple of Kumari (Kumari Ghar), Kasthamandap, Dharahara, Bhadrakali temple, Singha Durbar, Narayanhity Durbar, Budhanilkantha, Balaju Water Garden, Swoyanbhunath, National Museum, Natural History Museum,Pashupatinath, Temple, Boudhanth, Gokarma, Sankhu, Sundarijal, Kirtipur, chobhar, Shekh Narayan, Dakshinkali etc.

The major tourism attraction places are; Patan Durbar Square, Mahaboudhha, Hiranya, Vama Mahavihar, Kumbeswor, Rudra Vama Mahavihar, The Ashok stupa, Achheshrow Mahavihar, Machhedra Nath, Zoo, Tibetan Refugee Centre, Bajra Barahi, Godavari and Phulchoki etc. Bhaktapur, Situated at an altitude of 1401m. is a home of great medieval art and architecture. The major places of tourist attraction  are; Durbar Square, Nyatapolo Temple, Bhairavnath Temple, Dattaraya Temple, Pujari Math, Surya Vinayak, changu Narayan and Nagarkot etc. There are many beautiful and interesting places to visit in the vicinity of Kathmandu Valley like Kakani, Gosainkunda, Dhulikhel, Panauti, Namo Buddha, Timal Narayan, Palanchok Bhagawati, charikot, Helambu and Daman etc. Situated at the distance of 200 kms West of Kathmandu, Pokhara Valley is one of the most picturesque spots of Nepal and is the second favourite destination for tourists, after Kathmandu. The main attractions of the valley are Mt. Machhapuchhre (Mt.  Fishtail), The Fewa,  Begnas and Rupa Lakes. Situated at an altitude of 827 m. above the sea level, the valley offer’s magnificent views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, Five peaks of Mt. Annapurna and others. Mahendra Gufa (Cave), Mahendra Bridge over Seti River, David’s Fall are other major tourist attractions in this beautiful valley which you should not miss while you are at Pokhara Gorkha is the birthplace of King Prithvi  Narayan Shah, the Great founder of modern Nepal and is also the ancestral home of the Shah Kings of Nepal. Gorkha can be driven within five hours from Kathmandu and at an appox. of three hours from Pokhara by bus.

 

Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace. It is situated  250 kilometers south- west  of Kathmandu. Ashokan Pillar, remants of an old monastery, images of Buddha’s mother Maya Devi etc. are still preserved in Lumbini.

Situated at the distance of 120 kms. Southwest of Kathmandu this is one of the National Parks listed in the Natural World Heritage Sites. This National Park shelters wide range of wild life - the rare, great one horned Rhinoceros, several species of Deer, Sloth Bear, Leopard, Wild Boar, fresh water Dolphin, Crocodile, Royal Bengal Tiger, and more than 350 species of Birds. Full day Jungle Safari in the Park includes Elephant Back Safari, Canoe trips, Tharu Cultural Dance, Tharu Village Visit, Jungle Drive and Walk, Bird Watching Tour etc. Janakpur is an age-old religious place, famous as the birthplace of Sita, the consort of Lord Rama. There is an artistic Marble Temple of Sita (Janaki), popularly known as the Naulakha Mandir. Religious festivals, pilgrimages, trade fairs, and other festivals are held during Vivaha Panchami and Ram Navami.
