Tibet

Tibet is one of the world's most extraordinary destinations. Also called the ‘Roof of the World’, Tibet is the highest plateau in the world with the average height of 5000m. It is the land of Tibetan Lama Buddhism lying at the corss section of two Asian civilizations. Tibet is perhaps the last of Shangri Las. It is rich in culture and customs and natural resources. To its south lies the great Himalayan range. Mt. Tise or Mt. Kailash likes west of Tibet and is a world’s most sacred destination. The land is also full of biodiversity including rare flora and fauna. Mt Kailash (6714m) or Mt. Tise of Tibet is perhaps the most sacred mountain in the world. Devotees of four religions, namely ancient Bon, Buddhists, Hindus and Jains revered it as god. The mountain is believed to feed four great rivers that drains Asia: the Indus, the Sutlej and the Brahmaputra. Thousands of pilgrims come here from all over the world visit Mt. Kailash to circumambulate the mountain often called Kora by Tibetans. This circumambulation is believed to absolve the sins of anyone who does it. The serene Lake Manasarovar near the Mt. Kailash is also another sacred site. Here pilgrims take a dip or bath and offer worship. Along with Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar, this tour also combines a visit to Lhasa, which is undoubtedly the cultural and religious capital of Tibet. In Lhasa we will visit Potala Palace, the most towering and impressive landmark in Tibet. The palace is the historical and cultural center of the best Lhasa or in fact Tibet has to show case. The palace contains around thousand rooms containing important religious texts, relics and statutes. We will next visit Jokhang and Drepung Monasteries where you will be able to know and enrich your knowledge about Tibetan Buddhism. We will also stopover in the towns of Gyantse and Shigatse to explore further monasteries and fully immerse ourselves in the Buddhist culture.
