Western Nepal

The Mahendra Highway runs west from Butwal to meet the Indian border at Mahendranagar, passing through one of the least developed parts of Nepal. Few travelers pass through the area and fewer still stop to investigate its less-visited national parks. Much of it is unpaved as it goes through dense Sal forest and fords numerous streams and rivers. This is changing with the construction of the Karnali Bridge at Chisapani and work has again started on upgrading the road. The Royal Bardia National Park is a real gem.

Treks in the west of Nepal are quite different proposition to other treks. This part is far less developed. Access is also farharder, especially toareas such as Humla, Jumla and Dolpa.

Tibetans and Sherpa’s are mostly seen in this region. Lower down the people of Hindu Caste region. Spring and Autumn are best season for visitors but high passes in north and likely to be snow bounded from October to late April/May. Eventhough, Nepal can be visited any season frequently.

All  of  this makes trekking here much more of an exploration  and  intending  trekkers must be prepare  in mind   for some delays and other hardship, in short  it is  different and an amazing trek.

When to visit?

The northern  part of the west  of Nepal are some of the few places  that are suitable  for Summer  treks .Dolpa, for instance, is only  possible  at this time as the  high passes are snow free  and there is relatively  little rainfall compared with the areas to the east and south .

The traditional trekkingseasons, Spring and autumn are best season for visitors but high passes in north and likely to be snowbound from October to late April early May.
