This trek is best suited to those visitors who don't have enough time and energy for longer trek. This is an easy, short trek that starts from Pokhara and offers good mountain views. The area that covers the Royal trek is the area to the northeast of the valley's other two lakes, Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal. The culture of Bahuns and Chhetris and the local Ama Samuha is another attraction of this trek. The trek gained its name after Prince Charles tour the area with an entourage of 90 guests in 1980s. The maximum altitude of this trek is 1500m.

The Pokhara valley is situated in the centre of Nepal. Four hundred meters lower than Kathmandu, the valley is hemmed in far more closely by Himalayan giant peaks. Dominated by the Annapurna Massif to the north, the valley is dotted with lakes, of which Phewa Lake is the largest. Its beautiful setting has helped to make it Nepal's most popular tourist destination after Kathmandu.

Dhulikhel is the last major village in Kathmandu valley through which the Araniko Highway passes on its way to Kodari on the Nepal/Tibet border. It is situated at an altitude of 1585 meters and is a popular daytrip and overnight destination with Good Mountain views including Sunrise and Sunset views.
